More info
The 30ft head weight for the Gold series leans towards the higher end of the AFFTA approved fly line weight specifications, this translates into a line that offers easy loading on medium to fast action fly rods and is a great option for fly casters of all skills levels. Fast to extra-fast fly rods generally require a heavier weighted/grained fly line to easily and effectively load them.
The Taper
The proven weight forward taper on the Gold series is the ultimate line for the all-around fly angler. The taper has a shorted head design offering quicker loading and improved accuracy, while the moderate length belly lends itself well to performing longer casts with the accurate presentation. The shorter front taper and longer read taper allow you to accurately shoot outline when needed but also turn over nymphs and strike indicators with ease. The head weights for the first 30 feet on the Gold series are on the high side of the AFFTA fly line specifications, however, the tapers are all within the acceptable range specifications and offer a slightly overweighted grain/gram rating. This heavier grain allows the angler easier fly turn over, quicker and easier fly rod loading, and reduces the need for false casts.
The Gold series taper has been built using a PVC coating with specific softeners that creates a super slick line that slides effortlessly through fly rod guides. PVC coatings used in our fly lines are incredibly durable and buoyant and will offer years of usage when cared for correctly. The front-loading section of the fly line is moss green as this blends well with surrounding waters environments, the smooth yellow running lines are bright and allow you to easily tag and follow the location of your line.
The Core
All our fly lines at RF Fishing make use of multi-strand braided core construction. The advantages of the braided core technology mean no stretch, no memory, and vastly improved feedback into your fly rod and hands. PE or Polyethylene is an incredibly strong fiber that is used in braided fishing lines as well as in the REEL Fly line cores. Braided fibers offer high strength to weight and diameter ratios but also give fly lines some rigidity or backbone. Utilizing the rigidity provided by braid we can adjust parameters for each specific fly fishing line giving you the best performance in each respective area.
